University of Louisiana at Monroe
South Campus Renasaissance

Location: Monroe, LA
Completed: 2007

The school's administration had a need to renovate the "front door" of the university. The existing site consisted of a loose arrangement of buildings and deteriorated parking lots. The vision of the architect was to reestablish the importance of the three 1930's era Art Deco buildings that were the cornerstone for the campus. AFter positive dialog with the ULM President James Cofer and the administration, a concept masterplan was established. A new brick, limestone, and iron fence along the front of the campus reflects the art deco style and connects the front campus back together. New parking areas and drives are designed to provide better traffic flow and reemphasize the buildings' strong axes.
